A Small House Foundation

The husband is currently working on a small modular home foundation. The weather is still warm enough to pour, and the contractors will work through the winter if they’re able. The crew poured the footings on Wednesday and the walls yesterday. They moved the time of the pour up a couple of hours, so even though I had an errand to run just down the road from this jobsite and was hoping to get my own set of pics, they were done pouring by the time I arrived and there was nothing left to see. The walls were covered with concrete blankets.

These are pictures that the husband took before the mud for the walls showed up.

Given that he does some really complicated foundations with twelve-foot walls and 45-degree angles during the height of the building season when custom homes are going up, I am sure that a simpler job like this is a welcome change.

The husband always amazes me with his ability to walk around jobsites like a cat on a roof. I am not always as graceful.

This next picture makes me laugh only because the sign says, “Pavement Ends.” We had a similar sign just before our driveway years and years ago, before our road was paved. People would see that sign and turn around in our driveway because they were sure they were heading into the middle of nowhere. (It was gravel for a couple of miles before turning into asphalt again.) I kind of miss the gravel. At least people didn’t drive 75 mph down the road.

The mixer drivers are great guys and I know the husband considers them essential to a successful pour.

I’ll find out when they plan to pour the slab and try to get over to take pics of that one.
