After the Walls Were Stripped
Coming up with catchy titles for these blog posts is going to be a challenge, I can tell.
A couple of you have asked if the husband is going to be writing these blog posts. I am not sure if that is commentary on my commentary or what, but probably not. At most, he might stand behind my chair and dictate descriptions to me. Despite having written a lot when we were in college—or maybe because of that—he leaves it to me to wield the pen and write the blog posts.
[Note to self: Do not act on wild ideas that come to you at 4 a.m. before you have finished your coffee.]
When last we left this job, the footings had been poured. The walls had been formed on top of the footings and those had been poured.
Now we get to see the walls after the forms have been “stripped,” or pulled off.
I am going to take a stab here and assume that this little kneewall is for structural support, as this is a modular home. The wall was built on top of its own footing.
Also, given that this is on a crawlspace rather than a full basement, I don’t think they will be pouring a slab here. I think this will just get covered with some kind of vapor barrier and left.
A view from the other elevation, with the jobsite all cleaned up and ready for the next set of subs to come in:
And the husband’s truck and trailer loaded up and ready to come home.
I am not sure what is next up on the schedule. A big storm system is heading into our area today and tomorrow which may or may not bring snow. We’ll have to see. I’d also like to get this blog on a different schedule than my blog so that I’m not writing two posts on the same day.
